Hi Malcolm. my name is Fernando Marino, and I´m writing you from Brasil. I´ve been a retail investor in oil and gas E&P stocks for the last 5 years.
I would like to hear your views on medium and long term prospects for natural gas prices in the UK. I read some analysis that, because of the recent arrival of LNG exports from USA, Gazprom is preparing to conduct an eventual price war in Europe, in order to defend their market share. This will in turn have a profound effect in future nat gas prices in Europe. How do you think this situation will affect North Sea gas producers, given the fact that they are generally relatively high cost producers? Thanks in advance.
Hi Fernando. Welcome to the blog, i hope you like it. I think that there is an element of increased competition in the market that will force Gazprom to keep prices down. By then you never know we might have some more gas of our own to produce from onshore. Offshore is not too expensive and will be to an extent protected i think.
Kind regards
Malcolm
